COMPANY FLU CLINICS

How Can Flu Shots Help My Company?

Disease prevention is by far the most cost effective way to keep healthcare costs in check. Influenza vaccination of employees in the workplace is a simple yet significant way to reduce both healthcare costs and productivity losses associated with influenza illness.

Studies of adults aged <65 years have reported that vaccination can reduce both direct medical costs and indirect costs from work absenteeism:

13%--44% in healthcare provider visits

18%--45% in lost workdays

18%--28% in days working with reduced effectiveness, and

25% in antibiotic use for influenza-associated illnesses.

Providing influenza vaccinations for employees

can translate into significant cost savings for companies of all sizes!

Who Can Provide This Protection for Us?

SHOTS, etc. is a company that specializes in providing vaccinations to adults in the workplace.

Because SHOTS, etc. is a reputable provider of mass vaccinations, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has mandated us to educate and vaccinate as many adults as possible when we have the opportunity. The primary time we choose to target these groups of people is during the fall, primarily October through mid-December when giving influenza vaccinations to adults in the workplace. In the United States, influenza vaccination should continue through the end of February and should be available until the end of June for unvaccinated persons traveling to the Southern Hemisphere

How Does This Flu Appointment Work?

SHOTS, etc. will send a licensed/registered nurse who specializes in vaccinations to your location to administer influenza vaccinations to those who wish to participate. This appointment is made for a date and time most convenient for your needs and is publicized to your employees using posters and email notification. Because it is reported that only 25% of all adults are up-to-date on their recommended routine adult immunizations, we also offer Tetanus/Diphtheria boosters and Pneumonia vaccinations-two of the most important vaccinations that we all need. One week before your appointment date, we email to your company's Contact Person a pre-appointment education sheet to be distributed to all employees by email or paycheck insert. This information helps each employee understand what they need to know about the vaccines that will be offered at the appointment and allows them to make informed decisions about their health, rather than just saying "I don't like shots".

What Else Can We Do?

Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, all insurance companies now provide flu vaccinations for the insured and their covered dependents at no cost. We are happy to file for insurance reimbursement through your company insurance carrier or their private insurer, including those covered under their spouse's employer. Presently, we are in-network with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare and CIGNA and we are in the process of contracting with other insurors, as well. Even if your Company does not have an insurance plan, we can administer the influenza vaccine to your employees and file through their personal insurance as mentioned above. For those employees without insurance coverage, many Companies will choose to pay for those employees or can arrange for employee payment directly to SHOTS, etc or through payroll deduction, if desired. Offering various options for employees to receive the influenza vaccine encourages a higher participation rate, thus decreasing the likelihood that influenza and its fallout will wreak havoc on their company. Even those companies that offer the vaccinations at full employee expense show a commitment to providing a quick, easy and convenient way for their employees to get their vaccinations, rather than the greater expense of time and money spent getting them elsewhere. Also, if your company offers Health Savings Accounts or Flexible Spending Accounts, we can provide receipts to your employees for reimbursement. Your employees will definitely appreciate you for this opportunity, even if they have to pay for the vaccinations themselves!

What Are the Legal Liabilities for Our Company?

Our "informed consent" release statement, which everyone is required to sign prior to receiving a vaccination, serves to protect your company from legal responsibility relative to the services provided by SHOTS, etc. All of our nurses are specifically trained in giving these vaccinations and each one is fully insured with professional coverage. Furthermore, our company holds all of the required licensing and liability protection to allow us to provide our services on our clients' premises.
